“BLENDTEC LIES EXPOSED” EXPOSED!!!

Ever since I posted my “BlendTec Lies Exposed!” video I’ve been getting people doubting that I correctly distinguished the magnets in BlendTec’s video as not being neodymium.  Well, one day I got an email from a guy who claimed to know first hand that I was wrong in making that claim.  Here was that email…

You my friend are a lier. I live in Orem, Utah. My father does every single peice of film footage for Blentec/Ktec. Tom Dickson is the owner of Blentec. I know him personally. Nobody lied about the magnets, I was with my father when we went to go buy the magnets. I remember we went to Dairy Queen and afterwards me, my dad, and my little bro went to go buy the magnets for the next episode. I have no idea what magenets you got, but the guy at the counter said that those were Neoderwhatever magnets, it said it on the friggin thing we got it in. If you wish to contact my father or Tom Dickson just reply back and you can personally talk to my father, Kels Goodman, on the phone.

Now, this guy seemed to be nuts, so, I though to humor him a bit and write back politely…

Dear George,

I would very much like to see the container these magnets came in. Do you still have it? Or can you tell me the name of the store where you purchased them? We might be able to track down the specific product that was bought if we at least know the store it came from.

Thanks for writing,

Steven Jenkins

And George responded with this…

Dear Rqbflawed

I got word from the company that we got the magnets from, some old dude who is deaf in his left ear called us back and told us that we got the wrong magnets. Perfect timing for us....not, we already blended them! My father said that they already had a video or are going to make a video with the real Redomaxyskfaj magnets I briefly spoke with my father about it. I did not agree with you making fun or Will It Blend, but I totally agree with you for pointing out false pretenses that such large companies might lie about. I havent checked yet, but I think there is a video with the real magnets being blended at www.willitblend.com
If you wish to know the whole entire story just contact my father at **** that is his e-mail. I'm proud of you for stickin up to the man. Unfortunantly it makes both of us look bad for the mistake the magnet company made. Contact me back if you have any more questions.

Hmm… some sanity peaking through the craziness.  I did some research on this Kels Goodman guy, and he is the guy who does the BlendTec videos, and that was definitely his email address.  So, I thought to put myself out there and email him about the issue.  Even if this George guy was just completely crazy, at least I might get Kels to give me some good answers.

Here was my email to him:

Hello Kels,

My name is Steven Jenkins and I am one of the millions of people making videos on YouTube.

I'm writing you because a video I made a few months ago has generated a bit of controversy and it was recently suggested that you might be the person to clear it up.

In my video I refute the episode of BlendTec's "Will it Blend" where Neodymium magnets are put to the test.  My video claims that the magnets we not really neodymium magents, rather, weak ceramic magnets.  Here's a link to that video:

That video came out quite a while ago, but I have just now gotten an email by someone who claims to be your son giving his, and your, side of the story.  Those emails have been copied below.

I wanted to write you to see if you could simply verify this story and also if you wanted to add anything of your own.  If this is verified and the mistake seems like a harmless one I may want to make another video to clear BlendTec's name.

Thanks a lot for your time,

Steven Jenkins

[Then I copied the emails from up above]

And then, a day later, Kels responded with this!...

Steven

Thanks for your e-mail and I first want to say, if my son has been snooping around, I am sorry for that (kids these days-he's a good kid though!).  I saw your video a while ago and wasn't going to worry about it, we always get challenged, that's life.

Here is the truth.  George and I go out and purchase tons of things to be blended, we did buy the magnets.  We turned those things over to Tom Dickson, who is an actual engineer, and we just trusted his words.  But after your video, we confronted him and he realized he was wrong.  Blendtec deals with neo-dynium in thier blenders all the time, so it was just a natural thing for him to say that, and natural for me as the video producer to just follow his lead.

We were kind of afraid to make a second video on the magnets, simply because, even though everything you see on the videos are real and they do blend, they are just funny, silly videos and we are just having fun.

But if you do want some knowledge of what we have done with the magnets, after that while Tom was away on a trip, we went to the blender shop and stole (borrowed) about 10 neo-dynium magnets and blended them, just to see.  After about several blends, we were able to crunch those magnets to a degree.  We had to stop after a while because they were sparking everywhere.  I video taped George just doing it with the lab coat on and you can see the sparks in later videos in the opening.

Though they sparked, the top would often fly off, and we ruined the jars after a while, they did blend.  If you want to see the video, I can see what I actually filmed on it (it's actually pretty funny, George burned his hand).

Anyway, we weren't going to make a big deal of it and just move on.  Sorry if my son bothered you about it.  He is a big fan of the show so he's a little protective.  Hope all it well and keep up the good work.

Kels Goodman

So there you have it folks!  Official word that I was right, and they were wrong!

I love imagining how my video both caused Tom Dickson to be “confronted” and some crazy kid to get his hand burnt!  The power of the internet!!!

And how cool of Kels was it to write back with that letter?  I really respect the guy for being so honest like that.  And I’ll even go so far now as to endorse BlendTec for all your overpriced blending needs!

Alright, thanks again for watching and reading!

Seya around YouTube!
